In collaboration with Cases for Good, aileron. hosted a case study workshop to fundraise for Teach for Malaysia on the 15th of May 2021. In this webinar, participants caught a glimpse of a career in consulting through a casing skill lecture conducted by two incoming consultants at a leading consulting firm in London.
Case interviews are employed frequently as a major component of the assessment process of consulting firms, as well as banks and corporates when they seek new talents. A consulting team is often tasked with projects that require months of analysis before a robust recommendation can be made to the client. Hence, a case interview aims to simulate a consulting project in 25 to 40 minutes to test the candidate’s problem-solving skill and ability to think under pressure.
Both speakers from Cases for Good provided their valuable insights on case interview skills. In the first part of the workshop, the speakers helped our participants in gaining in building a foundation in approaching case interviews by sharing 6 core skills that are vital to acing the interview.The latter half of the webinar consisted of an interactive walkthrough of a mock MBB case study where participants took turns to analyze and solve the case. By offering constructive advice as participants shared their inputs, both of our speakers demonstrated how the 6 core skills can be applied to a real-life case study.
One of the most important pieces of advice they shared to our participants was that there are many possible ways to "crack" the case, but what matters at the end of the day is the thought process that a candidate demonstrates.
